The Wheel of Time (01)

introduction

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose...

The Wheel of Time is an epic fantasy book series written by the late American author Robert Jordan.

Originally planned as a six-book series, The Wheel of Time now consists of twelve published novels, with two more volumes to come. There is also a prequel novel and a companion book available.

Robert Jordan began writing the first volume, The Eye of the World, in 1984 and it was published in February 1990. He died while working on the final volume, which will be completed by his fellow fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. The final book is to be split up into three volumes (books 12, 13 and 14).

The Wheel of Time is notable for its length, its detailed imaginary world, its well-developed magic system and a large cast of characters. Several books of the series reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list. In 2008 the series has sold over 44 million copies worldwide.
